Is forex right for my prediction model?
I am a masters student and have a prediction model that relies on open and close data My model relies on variation throughout the day from open to close. Then I process this information My issue is, if forex is 24/5. Is there a time of the day where I can process yesterdays data before the open of the new day? I am considering limiting myself to certain trading times, e.g. time the NY market is open However is there historic data available that only records open and close times for one market rather then the whole day I do not like that: Because it give me no time to process, and I need at least 2 hours of time The close is derived from prices prevailing at 17:00 NY. The following trading day’s open price is determined by the first trade that occurs after 17:00:00 NY ps I am just a guy with an idea who wants to make some money. I have no background in forex but I am not an idiot. All I want to do is paper test and demo trade for at least a year, but I need to answer these questions before I can do anything
DAILY DISCUSSION THREAD (Monday night into Tuesday Feb 13)
WELCOME TO YOUR DAILY THREAD TRADERS! Monday Night into Tuesday I'm trying to spur deep discussion of currency markets, and breath some sophistication into Forex. This thread is a DAILY discussion thread where you can feel free to discuss events, macroeconomics, your trades, fundamentals, news, and technicals. I'm going to post these manually until I can get to a desktop and configure the automod to post daily. Threads will appear roughly around 4-5 pm EST .….. Which is just pre market open in Sydney. If we come to a consensus that it should be posted at 8 a.m. London time or 8 a.m. New York time then we can do so. Remember that Forex is a 24-hour Global Market that starts with the Asia session which opens with Sydney and Tokyo. So, for those of you in the United States, you're seeing the Monday thread appearing Sunday afternoon, and those of you in the UK and Europe are seeing it up here Sunday evening. It's already Monday morning in Asia! As always, see the sidebar for posting rules. Feel free to be vociferous, keep it civil, and feel free to ask questions, as well as post your analysis of the market. Trades: DO NOT COPYCAT. Do your own analysis, even if you see a good idea. Basically, you do you. MAKE THAT MONEY
I've recently been starting to attempt forex after stocks. Due to full time work I get back at 9 pm est. I can trade day time frame charts but if that's the case I'll just stick with stocks. My main question is based on my limited experience I can't recognize much opportunity during the time 9pm to 1am est. There seems to be very little trending during this time and mostly very tight ranges. Is there any pair with a decent spread that moves during this time. Also is it possible to use 10-15 min time frames during this period. I can't see any decent setups but I'd love to hear if anyone is doing this session with success. Thanks for any help.

To summarize my experience with the "product." It is 99.9% stalling and wasting your time with shit like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za3tUUoj2iQ and hyping their own products. Dudes acting like "whaaaaaaaa" and showing phone screens with profits. Facebook is flooded with these people showing off how their boy "[insert name here]" is selling money and yada yada. Most of the content they post and host is just recruitment hype videos to bring more people in. Seriously... Like all day every day it felt like. Most the videos feature some hipsters and text screenshots of them being like: "OMG I gots some mad pips brah, 100 million pipz lulz #winning [intense sarcasm]." Do yourself a favor and unfriend anyone who tries to sell you this shit. Because they are not your friend, and they view you as a $35 a month paycheck if you sign up. Most the common stuff you see in groups is people touting the wins, but don't fool yourself... Everyone is keeping their losses quiet because no one wants to make a fool out of themselves. I mean who makes videos of them watching someone else in video chat? Someone who doesn't know what the hell their doing or how to work technology... Which they happen to have some miracle program that will "change" your life. Oh, and the haters, HA you should just ignore them because they all don't like grape koolaide. TL:DR Oh, look ma some YOLO saying swag fags are saying they can teach me to make mad bread. But it is just a job selling a job selling jobs to other people who in turn will be selling said jobs to others who will do the same. 4/24/16 EDIT This is the kind of shit that constantly keeps popping up in my feeds and spamming my cell phone in texts. Several Questions about trading in different sessions. London, US and Asian market
Is it normal for US forex traders (EST) to start trading at London session? I am also curious to how you balance your life if you were to start at 3:00am???? My last series of questions are at the bottom. I live in the EST time zone and i'm starting to reach a point where the US session does not provide enough sustained volatility to trade throughout the entire day. You could best describe my market behavior as a scalper on the 5min time frame. my favorite pairing to trade are the Euro/USD and USD/CAD (1hr time frame). I normally trade between 7:00am - 11:00pm. I enter the majority of my positions during 7:00 am - 11:00am. I look to exit ALL of my positions by 2:00pm. On 2:00pm news events i trade till 5:00pm. (there are exceptions to these time frames but this is a standard day for me) I rest between 2:00pm to 6:30pm. I start retrading the Asian session (euro/usd) at 7:00pm and end at 11:00pm. I probably enter and close 2 trades on average. 3 at most. On some occasions none. funny thing is i was considering quitting the Asian session and China happened... it kind of revitalized my willpower to make this work... I do most of my journal writing and trade logging during this time period. Asian session is boring as hell. I don't normally trade the JPY or AUD pairings so i'm guessing this contributes to it. There are some days i ignore the Asian Session altogether and do my logging/journal-ing after 2:00pm. I like having this option once in awhile when i want to take a break. What can i do differently to make Asian session more productive? Am i just a london session trader? Do i need to start branching out to different pairs? I'm starting to think it might be more efficient and productive for me to trade between 3:00 am to 1:00pm EST. I'll skip Asian session but my circadian rhythm will be wack. I do not want to start going to bed at 8:00pm...
One of the most important aspects when trading binary options is to know when to trade the market. Even though trading on foreign exchange options, stock options, commodity options and index options is available 24 -hours a Day, five days a week, not every hour or minute is worth trading. There are different hours during the day and different days of the week which see more volume and liquidity than others, resulting in high volatility and opportunities to maximize trading. Efects of timing As a binary options trader, you proft when you correctly predict the direction of an asset price. Volatility is therefore essential to maximize the chances of you increasing your return on investment. Studies have shown that the most active trading hours occur during the European session. In the US, trading activity picks up sharply around 8:30 am EST. this is due to the release of closely watched US economic data, which generates the liquidity and volatility needed for the underlying asset to reach its target price before the option expires. Prices become most volatile when the US releases its monthly non-farm payrolls report on the frst Friday of every month. In contrast, markets will be less active and liquid during major holidays in the US and Europe, resulting in subdued trade. Best days of the week There are days that see more volatility and price action than others. According to The research, Tuesday and Wednesday are considered to be the most active trading days of the week. Friday is also recognized as a high-volatility trading day, especially during the hours when European and US trading sessions overlap. During the second half of the day, price movements can be very unpredictable. Learn More Most forex traders are more successful during the late US, Asian or early European trading sessions – essentially 2 PM to 6 AM Eastern Time (New York), which is 7 PM to 11 AM UK time
Gametime is whenever everyone is ready. We will start the game at 3pm EST [-5]...everyone should aim to be starting to get on around 2:30-3. The latest should be about 3:15 but if you have to be later that is alright just give me a heads up if you can. Whatever Saturday y'all would like to start we can start. I will have the first session up and going by then I'd say. My skype is chaley, if you have any questions or just need say something send a message on that you will be able to grab my attention most of the time. I work as a stay at home forex trader so I am almost always on my comp. Remember we will be using mumble I would suggest trying to download and install both mumble and maptool and give em a shot. This first session if at all possible try to be early so we can work out bugs with the system. Also can anyone host for maptools, I have a slight problem with hosting but I maybe able to get it working. Also we will play for around 3 hours...maybe longer depending on how much more I have and social lives. Well enough of the logistics onto the more fun part of this. I have read over most of y'alls back story and positions and I feel like we will have a great time. I feel like I should tell you a lil' bit more about how I play as a DM. Navi here knows the gist of how I DM but I have three general beliefs.
Never say no! *
This is your world, I just happened to have written an obscene amount about it. **
My games are about humanity ***
*I view player actions in the way that freedom of speech in America is set out and meant to be interpreted. You can voice and say just about whatever you want, as long as it does not infringe on others ability to do so. Now that does not mean y'all wont have hostility and I will step in...it just means if you are being an ass to someone I will step in. Refer to stupid-stupid. **I create an obscene amount...and I can bullshit easily. So with that combo I like to run my games with the fact in mind that if I make a quest or mission and you don't want to do it...you want to go chase a horse instead. Fuck go ahead, I want to see where this goes. I will follow where you want to go and build with you. It may not be as polished as the projected encounter but it will be atleast your encounter. Let me also say, this is not a perfect rule but it is one I will stick with. ***This is a game without a doubt but I tend to focus on the human element. No one in my game is flawless, maybe you want to be flawless and I will not fight you on that in any way, but the NPCs are all very flawed people. They are very human people, in respect to said flaws, no matter the race. There is good and evil but most often there is a shit ton of gray. Also death is a constant...for everyone. That also means the chance is that you, the PC, could also die. I do not aim to kill any PC, but it is a possibility. You all are powerful, you can recover from grievous wounds but an end may come in the game so just tuck that in your mind as you play. Now the latter part is not meant to be scary but it is more me being upfront and also brining out something I learned recently. I DMed a game where a one of the characters died. I worked my ass off to stop it but it got to a point where nothing could be done [ I almost used a deus ex machina but I could not bring myself to it] and she died but was happy with it. ...that confused the fuck out of me... I always was invested in my characters deeply but death can sometimes be a good end if done correctly. Now neither of us had any idea at the time but it worked out very well. It is like ending a good show on a high note. It maybe bitter but in the end it was for the best. So I now stick with the rule, death is inevitable and no one can escape it. Now let me be a hypocrite and say if you really don't want to die I wont kill you. I don't want to push you into something that will ruin the game. Either way enough of my rambles...really wish I could throw a TL;DR but no way I could sum it all up easily. Also you all will start with 150g...spend it up now!
